How to Manage the Blog Post Layout

How to manage the blog post layout

Introduction

Every article on your blog should look consistent—same title placement, hero image, typography, and optional author or date line. On systeme.io, that consistency comes from the Post Layout: a master template under Posts → Post Layout. Any element added to this template appears on every post; you still write each article’s unique text in the individual post editor.

This guide follows How to manage the blog post layout —not to be confused with the sitewide blog layout (header, footer, menu).

Blog Layout vs Post Layout

  • Blog Layout — outer shell for pages and posts (header, footer, blog content placeholder on pages)
  • Post Layout — inner template for single blog posts only (title, image, body, meta elements)

Elements you add in Blog Layout can appear around posts, but post-specific blocks (title, main content area) are configured in Post Layout.

What You Need

Step 1: Open the Post Layout Editor

Managing the blog post template:

  1. Navigate to Blogs on the Sites tab
  2. Click your blog's name
  3. Go to the Posts section
  4. Click Post Layout

The post layout editor opens with default dynamic elements already placed by the system.

Step 2: Default Dynamic Placeholders

In the post layout editor you will notice elements already added by default, including dynamic placeholders that pull data from each post’s settings:

  • Blog post title — from the post Title field
  • Blog post image — cover image from post settings
  • Blog post content — the article body you edit per post

You can drag in additional blog-specific elements (for example post date, breadcrumbs, categories) so every article shows the same structure. Click each element’s Settings icon to adjust style, spacing, or visibility.

Step 3: Add Elements and Blocks

Adding additional elements: any element or block can be added to the post layout. Drag them from the panel on the left and drop them onto the page (author bio, CTA button, related-links row, opt-in embed). Configure via Settings on each element.

Save the post layout when finished. Open any blog post in preview to confirm the template on systeme.io.

Editing Content for One Post Only

Post Layout controls shared chrome. To change one article’s text, images in the body, or blocks inside the content area, use Posts → three dots → Edit on that post. The Blog post content zone in the layout is where that per-post editor output appears.

Troubleshooting

Change not on one post

You edited Post Layout—refresh; all posts should match unless cache or old preview.

Title or image wrong

Fix post metadata (Title, Image), not Post Layout placeholder wiring.

Duplicate header

Header from Blog Layout plus extra header in Post Layout—remove duplicate in one editor only.
