I do not think everyone needs to pay right away, and I will not pretend otherwise.
The free plan is enough if you are validating an idea and want to see whether people will join a list or buy before you spend anything. It is enough if you are a beginner building your first funnel and first email sequence. It is enough for a small side project with a list under 2,000 people and one thing to sell. And it works well as a lead-capture setup that feeds a list you nurture over time.
If that describes where you are, start free and stay free until the business tells you to upgrade.
The free plan runs out of room in a few clear situations, and none of them are artificial.
You pass 2,000 contacts. This is the most common reason to upgrade. Once your list crosses that line, you move to Startup, which raises the cap to 5,000.
You need more than three funnels. If you are running several offers, a webinar, and multiple lead magnets at once, three funnels gets tight. Startup makes funnels unlimited.
You want to sell more than one course. The free plan hosts one. Startup hosts five, and the $47 Webinar plan makes courses unlimited.
You want automated webinars or sub-accounts. Those live on higher plans, so growing into webinars or managing separate client accounts is a reason to move up.
The good news is that the step up is $17/month, not a painful jump. You upgrade when the business is already working, not before.
