How to Integrate Your Mercado Pago Account with systeme.io
Introduction
Mercado Pago is the go-to processor for selling in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and other supported markets). On systeme.io, you connect it like other native gateways: paste production credentials, then register the auto-generated webhook URL in Mercado Pago so payments sync to CRM, Transactions, and product access.
This guide follows How to integrate your Mercado Pago account with systeme.io —comparable to Flutterwave (keys + webhooks) but with Mercado Pago’s developer application and Country selector.
What You Need
- A systeme.io account ( plan that supports selling)
- A verified Mercado Pago seller account in your country
- A developer application with production credentials activated (Public Key + Access Token)
- A sales funnel with order form and offer in a currency Mercado Pago supports for your account
Step 1: Generate Production Credentials in Mercado Pago
- Log in to Mercado Pago
- Open Settings → Integrations → Your integrations (or use the Mercado Pago Developers panel)
- Click Create application
- Name the app; choose Online payments and indicate you sell through a platform
- Confirm and Activate production credentials (complete any business questions Mercado Pago requires)
- Copy Public Key and Access Token from Production credentials—not test/sandbox keys for live funnels
Keep the Access Token private—server-side only, same as any payment API secret.
Step 2: Connect Mercado Pago in systeme.io
- Click your profile picture → Settings
- Left menu: Payment gateways
- Connect on Mercado Pago
- Enter:
- API Public Key
- Access Token
- Country (must match the Mercado Pago account country)
- Click Save
After a successful save, systeme.io shows a unique webhook URL (pattern like https://systeme.io/payment/webhook/listening-mercado/…). Copy it—you need it in Step 3. Do not swap countries or credentials between different MP accounts.
Step 3: Configure Webhooks in Mercado Pago
Mercado Pago calls this IPN/Webhooks configuration; for new integrations, webhooks are the supported path (not legacy IPN-only setups).
- Copy the webhook URL from the systeme.io Mercado Pago connect step
- In Mercado Pago Developers, open the same application you created in Step 1
- Left menu: Notifications → Webhooks
- Configure notifications
- Tab Production mode → paste URL in Production URL
- Under recommended events for Checkout Pro integrations, select Payments
- Under Other events, select Plans and subscriptions (for recurring offers)
- Save configuration
Important: Without this URL and events, systeme.io cannot process payment events—buyers may pay in Mercado Pago while Sales → Transactions stays empty (same class of issue as missing PayPal IPN).
Step 4: Enable Mercado Pago on the Funnel
- Sites → Sales funnels → your funnel
- Funnel settings
- Enable Mercado Pago
- Save
Pair with order form, offer, and optional order summary on thank you page.
Test and Go Live
- Use Mercado Pago test credentials only on test funnels; switch popup + webhook to production for real sales
- Run a small live payment; confirm transaction, contact, and access
- For subscriptions, confirm rebill behavior ( failed subscription payments)
Troubleshooting
Wrong country selected
Checkout or webhook fails—country in systeme.io must match Mercado Pago account region.
Test keys on live funnel
Payments never reconcile—use production Public Key and Access Token.
Webhook simulation errors in MP
Mercado Pago’s test tool may show warnings; verify with a real small payment and systeme.io Transactions.
Only one-time sales, subscriptions broken
Enable Plans and subscriptions on the webhook.
Contact systeme.io support with Mercado Pago payment ID, buyer email, and webhook URL (redact secret segments if sharing publicly).
Frequently Asked Questions
Mercado Pago vs PayPal on the same funnel?
You can enable multiple gateways in funnel settings; buyers choose at checkout ( activate Stripe or PayPal).
Do I need Zapier?
No for standard funnel checkout—native integration + webhooks is the intended setup.
External payment link only?
Some sellers use a Mercado Pago payment link on a button—that bypasses native sync; this article covers integrated checkout.
