How to Create a Course Using systeme.io
Introduction
With systeme.io, you can host a membership-style course site: sell access, drip lessons over time, or grant full access from day one. Course creation starts in Assets → Courses, then you structure modules and lectures, add videos or text, and activate lectures so students actually see them.
This guide follows How to create a course using systeme.io.
What You Need
- A systeme.io account ( plan)
- A connected domain (or default systeme.io subdomain) for the course URL
- Lesson content ready (video files, text, downloads)
Step 1: Create the Course
Here's how it works:
- In the menu, go to Assets and click Courses
- Click Add a new course
- Fill in the fields:
- Name — course title shown to students
- Domain — where the course is hosted
- URL path — slug segment for the course URL (e.g.
/my-course) - Theme — pick one of the available course themes
- Click Save so settings are stored
Note: You can modify name, domain, path, and theme later in course settings.
Step 2: Create a Module
After the course exists, build the curriculum in sections:
- Open your course
- Click Add module
- Enter a name for the module in the popup
- Click Save
Repeat for each chapter or week of your program on systeme.io.
Step 3: Create Lectures
Inside a module, click Add lecture. In the popup, set:
- Name of the lecture
- Delay after the previous lecture — for drip release (used with drip access mode)
- Enable comments — optional student comments on this lecture
Save, then open the lecture editor to add title, body text, video, or file attachments. Save your work as you go—the editor does not auto-save every change.
Step 4: Activate Lectures (Publish)
When you create a new lecture, it is automatically saved as a draft. Students see No lectures yet until content is published.
- Go to Assets → Courses and open your course
- Hover the three dots next to a lecture
- Click Activate
After activation, preview the course and confirm lessons appear for enrolled students.
Course Access Types (Overview)
In course settings you can control how students see content:
- Full access — instant access to all modules and lectures (delays ignored)
- Drip content — progressive access based on delays between lectures
- Partial access — only selected modules
- Partial access with drip — selected modules with timed release inside them
Delays run from the release of the previous chapter, not necessarily from the purchase date—plan your drip accordingly.
Sell and Enroll Students
Connect your course to a funnel or payment page so checkout grants access. Purchasers can appear in Contacts for automations. You can also manually enroll students or use course bundles when your plan supports them.
Troubleshooting
No lectures yet for students
Activate lectures—drafts are hidden from the student view.
Drip not matching expectations
Confirm access type is Drip, not Full; check delay-after-previous-lecture values.
Course URL not loading
Verify domain, URL path, and that the course is saved.
Contact systeme.io support with course name and URL.
